2026 Open House

Fort Indiantown Gap will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The event will be held along Clement Avenue, at the Fort Indiantown Gap Community Club and on the southern portion of Muir Army Heliport. 

The Open House will feature a wide variety of static displays and demonstrations featuring units and organizations from across the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania National Guard and partner agencies.

Featured military equipment displays will include a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and a CH-47 Chinook helicopter from the 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade; a M109 Paladin self-propelled Howitzer and M777 Howitzer from the 166th Regiment – Regional Training Institute; Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle and Buffalo Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle from the Unit Training Equipment Site; Infantry Squad Vehicle from the 56th Mobile Brigade Combat Team and a M1151 HMMWV from the 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade.

Additional participating organizations include the Unmanned Aerial Systems Training and Innovation Facility; Northeast Counterdrug Training Center; the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Enhanced Response Force Package; Family Programs; Personnel; Forestry and Wildlife; the 201st RED HORSE Squadron; 148th Air Support Operations Squadron; 11th Air Attack Wing; 193rd Regional Support Group; 193rd Special Operations Wing; 203rd Weather Flight; 171st Air Refueling Wing; Civil Air Patrol; Training Support Center; USO; Miss Pennsylvania; the 3rd Civil Support Team; Army Recruiting and Retention; the Fort Indiantown Gap Fire Department and medics; the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; Pennsylvania National Guard Association; Veterans Outreach; Signal and Information Technology; the 4th Medical Battalion Training Site; 166th Regiment – Regional Training Institute; Air National Guard Recruiting and Retention; the State Partnership Program; Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy; Fort Indiantown Gap Fish and Game Club; Wreaths Across America; and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Environmental.

Additional attractions and activities will include a helicopter hoist demonstration; sling-operations demonstrations; an infantry squad maneuver demonstration from the 2nd Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment; community engagement tables; memorials; food trucks; bounce houses; the 28th Infantry Division Band; the Box Car Restaurant and a combatives demonstration featuring the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held rain or shine.


Schedule of Events

9:30 a.m. – Gates open (this includes access through the temporary East ACP on Quartermaster Road, which will be reopened for the event). Signs will direct guests to designated parking areas where shuttle buses will be available.

11 a.m. (1) – Opening Ceremony (conducted in the vicinity of the Fort Indiantown Gap Community Club along Clement Avenue)

11:30 a.m. (2) – UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter hoist demonstration

Noon (3) – Meet Miss Pennsylvania: Photos and Autographs

12:30 p.m. (4) – CH-47 Chinook helicopter sling operations demonstration

1:30 p.m. (5) – Infantry squad maneuver demonstration (The demonstration will include simulated explosives and firing of blank ammunition.)

3 p.m. (6) – Closing ceremony and conclusion of the open house  (conducted in the vicinity of the Fort Indiantown Gap Community Club along Clement Avenue)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What identification will I need to enter the installation? 
A: The driver of your car will need a valid driver’s license to enter the installation. 

Q: Can I be searched entering the base? 
A: Yes, there will be an Explosive Detection K-9 team at the main gate conducting vehicle searches for the protection of the installation and personnel. If selected to be searched, you may decline, but then you will not be permitted to enter the installation.   

Q: Can I carry my licensed concealed carry or open carry weapon on the installation? 
A: No, licensed concealed carry or open carry weapons may not be on your person or in your vehicle while on the installation during this event.

Q: Where should I park?
A: There will be people directing you where to park on the day of the event. There will be several parking lots available in the vicinity of the Open House as well as overflow parking in another area of the installation with shuttles transporting attendees to and from the Open House area.

Q: If I have an emergency while on the installation, what do I do? 
A: Call 911, tell them you are on Fort Indiantown Gap. Or get the attention of a roving police officer or security officer.  

Q: Can I go to the Post Exchange (PX) and buy stuff? 
A: Civilians may purchase items at the PX with the exception of gasoline, tobacco products and alcohol.

Q; Where is the Lost and Found? 
A: Fort Indiantown Gap Police Station, building 7-74 Fisher Ave. is the Lost and Found.  

Q: Can I fly my drone on base during the event? 
A: Operation of privately own drones is prohibited on the installation by the FAA.
