DA Photos
The G6 / Visual Information Section at Fort Indiantown Gap provides DA photos at no charge, in the required digital format, for all Soldiers needing them for promotion, retention or other official purposes. The service is located in the studio of Building 11-66. Photos are taken Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Photos are uploaded to the DA Photo Management Information System. They generally appear on your AKO account shortly after uploading.
Important Rules
To ensure an effective and efficient service, the following rules must be adhered to:
- Soldiers are expected to be in proper Army Service Uniform (ASU). Changing rooms are available in the studio (Building 11-66).
- Arrive early if you are planning to change here. Be ready to be photographed at your designated appointment time.
- Those who cannot make their scheduled appointment should call in advance to cancel, so their slot can be offered to someone else.
Although care will be taken in posing the subject, all aspects of the uniform, awards and decorations, and personal appearance are ultimately the responsibility of the individual. Any uncertainties need to be resolved beforehand, in consultation with unit first sergeants, administrative personnel and/or appropriate military regulations.
Available Dates
To schedule a DA photo at Fort Indiantown Gap, visit https://vios.army.mil, select Pennsylvania ARNG as your installation when registering for the first time, and fill out the 3903 work order. Photo appointments are scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: We do accommodate walk-ins if the Soldier requires a photo before an available appointment, i.e. - there are no appointments available before the closing of a job announcement or other administrative packet deadline. We will also work with Soldiers with legitimate scheduling conflicts such as third-shift jobs, attending a class on post, or similar extenuating circumstances. Walk-ins can be taken any day of the week but still need to be coordinated through our office to schedule around appointments on photo days and around other tasks we have on non-photo days. Lastly, The G6 / Visual Information Section has other tasks - some of which take us out of the office - so showing up unannounced is highly discouraged. There have been instances where Soldiers have driven several hours only to find out we are supporting an event that day. Please call ahead!
DA Photo Guidance
Per AR 640-30, official photos will be taken in a properly fitted and pressed ASU. Basic branch insignia, all permanently authorized awards, decorations, combat and special skill badges, tabs, and if affiliated, regimental insignia will be worn, if applicable. The shoulder sleeve insignia (patch) and distinctive unit insignia (crests) will also be worn, if applicable, and are the only exceptions to the permanent rule.
PLEASE NOTE: AR 640-30 states that photographers may not retouch the photograph in any way. No one may clip, stuff or otherwise alter the uniforms’ appearance in any manner.

The following sites display the proper order for all Army and Pennsylvania awards and decorations. They will also build an on-line rack for you (except for ribbon devices). All state awards follow the federal awards in precedence.
PLEASE NOTE: Check your personnel records carefully to ensure that you are wearing all awards and decorations to which you are entitled!

Directions
Building 11-66 is on Utility Road, which connects to Service Road. From I-81, take the Fort Indiantown Gap exit and travel north on state route 934 (Fisher Avenue). You will come a traffic light. Make a left onto Service Road. Make a right onto Utility Road. Building 11-66 will be on your left; parking is available in front of the building, or around back if a parking space is not available.
