Congratulations to the winners of the Region II Best Warrior Competition: Pfc. Alexander Gravely, West Virginia National Guard, Soldier of the year, and Sgt. James McGill, Maryland National Guard, NCO of the year. The four-day, nine event competition was held May 10 to 14 at Fort Indiantown Gap.

Regional Best Warrior Competition concludes at Fort Indiantown Gap

Soldiers of the 1/109th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division conduct a 10-round fire mission Oct. 9, 2020, at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. The speed of the fire mission is the testament to the leadership of the noncommissioned officers of the battalion, and the skill of the indirect fire Soldiers.

Steel on Steel: 1/109th Infantry conducts mortar training

Soldiers from the National Guard graduated from Air Assault School at Fort Indiantown Gap, on April 17, 2021. The school consisted of 10 days of intense physical and mental training that required Soldiers to be detail oriented as they learned to sling-load, create a swiss seat, and to rappel from a tower and Uh-60 Black Hawk helicopter.

Soldiers graduate from Air Assault School 104-21 at Fort Indiantown Gap

The Pennsylvania National Guard's Individual Training Branch conducted its Ranger Sapper Assessment Program Sept. 17 to 20 at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa.

RSAP is a rigorous four-day assessment designed to mirror the physical and mental demands of the assessment phase at the Army's Ranger School and Sapper Leader Course. This program identifies the most promising candidates and further prepares them for success at some of the Army’s most demanding schools. (Video by Capt. Ethan Merritt)

Pa. National Guard holds Ranger Sapper Assessment Program

Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard, joined with Airmen from the Maryland National Guard for a combined arms live fire exercise at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. on July 30, 2020. The Soldiers worked through several battle drills including reacting to contact, team bounding and more, while safeties provided support during the live fire exercise. The airmen from the Maryland National Guard flew A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, as part of their own training, and incorporated close air support within the exercise like they would in a real combat scenario.

166th Regiment - RTI hosts first Warrant Officer Candidate School graduation

Warrant Officer Candidate School class 24-001, conducted by the 166th Regiment - Regional Training Institute, graduated 18 U.S. Soldiers April 20, 2024 at the conclusion of the 25 training day program. This graduation was historic for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as this was the first WOCS graduation to occur within the state in the history of the program. Pa. Army National Guard Soldiers compete in 2024 Best Warrior Competition

Fifteen Pennsylvania Army National Guard Soldiers from around the state competed in three categories at the 2024 state Best Warrior Competition April 10-14 at Fort Indiantown Gap. The Soldiers competed in nine events designed to test their physical and mental endurance: night land navigation, a medical event, a written exam, a mystery event, weapons zero and qualification, the obstacle course, the Army Combat Fitness Test, a 12-mile ruck march, and finally, a leadership/appearance board. U.S. Army Spc. Ian Zimmerman, an infantryman with Delta Co., 1st Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, of Pittsburgh, Pa., won the best Soldier portion of the competition.

U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Stevens, a recruiting and retention NCO with Pennsylvania Recruiting and Retention Battalion, Joint Force Headquarters, of New Cumberland, Pa., won the best noncommissioned officer portion of the competition.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Chad Goodhart, a cavalry scout with Delta Troop, 2nd Battalion, 104th Cavalry Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, of Mount Holly Springs, Pa., won the Command Sgt. Maj. Jay H. Fields NCO Leadership award.

Work underway on Marquette Lake bridge project

Work recently began to replace the bridge over Indiantown Run that connects Lake Road at Marquette Lake with Asher Miner Road (Route 443) at Fort Indiantown Gap. When completed, the new two-lane bridge will serve as both the entrance and exit for the lake and the Keystone Conference Center, and the road over the Marquette Lake dam that is currently used as the entrance to the lake and the KCC will be closed to vehicular traffic. Artillery training is scheduled for April 1 to 4 and April 18 to 21 between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Helicopter door gunnery training is scheduled for April 22 to 24 between 1 and 11:59 p.m.
